Transformed Sizes – Art Beyond the Vinyl Format

nirwana

This sculpture consists of two pieces set into the center hole of a record (Island records label). A small sailboat is set into the hole and on top of it sits a rower. Viewed from the side, onle the rower is visible; from above, the sailboat with the rower appears within the record. The sculpture plays with perspectives nd material to evoke a sense of movement and tranquility.

Dare Game is a geometric wall piece made from vinyl records. From a distance, it appears as a simple black square—but up close, a detailed cube pattern emerges. The glossy surface reflects light in changing ways, causing the image to shift and shimmer depending on angle and sunlight.

This work is part of a series of three, alongside Hide and Seek and I Spy with My Little Eye—each named after a children's game. Through playful titles and optical illusion, the series explores perception, memory, and the joy of discovering what’s hidden in plain sight.

wall of audibles

This wall installation made of vinyl records transforms familiar objects into visual art, highlighting the connection between music culture, memory, and materiality. By displaying the records as a collective artwork, the piece invites viewers to reflect on the enduring influence of music and the ways everyday items can take on new meaning in a different context.

fenster zu doof

The artwork Window To Stupidity (“Fenster zu doof”) uses vinyl records arranged like bricks to block a window. It symbolizes a post-war world rebuilt by women, referencing the Trümmerfrauen who reconstructed Germany after WWII. The closed window stands for protection and the power to reshape living spaces after destruction.

This pictures measures 136,5x100cm (approximately 53,74 x 39,37 inches)

selfportrait - side A / side b

This artwork is composed of woven strips from vintage vinyl record covers, forming a colorful, textured base. Over this collage, I applied acrylic paint and used an upward motion to blur and merge the colors, creating a dynamic, abstract effect. The interplay between the structured woven background and the expressive paint strokes evokes both nostalgia and transformation.

The piece measures 60 × 60 cm (approximately 23.6 × 23.6 inches).

Haben und Sein (To Have and To Be)

This diptych explores human identity through color, form, and repetition. Made from painted vinyl records, the two panels reflect contrasting concepts: Haben (To Have) and Sein (To Be).

The left panel, Haben, represents different character types through bold, overlapping diamond shapes:

  • Red is impulsive and fiery.

  • Yellow is thoughtful and imaginative.

  • Blue is fluid and mediating.

  • Black and white stand for the absolute.

These colors interact to express the complexity of personality and how identities evolve.

The right panel, Sein, shows a grid-like repetition of these traits, symbolizing how people are often categorized by type. The pattern creates a visual effect that some find restless, while others experience it as captivating or dynamic.

Together, the work invites reflection on individuality, perception, and the tension between uniqueness and classification.
